Bird Photos Taken in Massachusetts 2015 through 2017 by Eva
I photographed 165 avian species in MA in 2017, 138 in 2016, 111 in 2015 and 263 this century. My high water mark since I started keeping these records in 2010 had been 164 in 2013, when Herman was still alive. So I topped that in 2017, thanks to Ida and Molly and being retired. The pictures are of uneven quality but then so were the sightings. I am constrained by a self-imposed rule to showcase only species not given the limelight on my 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 pages. My husband, Herman D'Entremont, the real birder in the family, died January 8, 2015. It turned out he converted me into a novice birder: I kept going birding with my camera. There is a photo collection spreadsheet in Excel and in html, naming which species were in each set.
I contend that glancing at the 31 birds showcased on this page, together with clicking around a bit in the list of the 84 unshowcased species below those, gives an overview of the variety of avian species that novice birders can see in MA (especially if they hang out with good birders or go on Brookline Bird Club walks). Another way to get an overview is to glance through the 211 showcased species in my six MA pages, without even clicking on anything.
