In 1996 visitors came from these 72 countries:

December 1996 was my biggest month ever, due to the fact that my Homemade Christmas Card pages (e.g.Contact Sheet) turned up in Yahoo & other search engines.

I was thrilled to get hits from a dozen new-to-this site countries! They are Aruba (AW), Bulgaria (BG), Croatia (HR), Faroe Islands (FO), Guatamala (GT), Kuwait (KW), Latvia (LV), Lebanon (LB), Lithuania (LT), Nicaragua (NI), Romania (RO), & Slovakia (SK).

6384 visitors from 66 countries hit 28 pages on this site.
10 or more visitors came from each of 26 countries. 4 or 5 thousand visitors hailed from the US (3727 definitely, & probably the bulk of the 1350 with numeric IP addresses), and hundreds came from each of Canada, Sweden, the UK & Australia.
The several homemade Christmas Card pages got, collectively, 7007 page-hits.

November 1996 brought 6 new countries to this site: Brunei (BN), Jamaica (JM), Malta (MT), The Philippines (PH), Pakistan (PK) & Yugoslavia (YU).
2173 visitors came from 49 countries in November!
The two most popular pages, by far, in November were
Homemade Christmas Cards I with 658 hits.
Homemade Christmas Cards II , with 469 hits,
I'm very curious to know why the sudden popularity. Please e-mail me with clues.
In October 1996 this site got 1041 visitors from 36 countries. Columbia showed up for the first time since '95.
The following countries sent the biggest crowds: USA 675, Canada 43, Australia 20, The United Kingdom 15, Sweden 12 & Japan 10.
The four most popular pictures in October were
The Great Gray Owl with 70 hits. (could Halloween be a factor?)
machu picchu , with 44 hits,
Munch's The Cry, with 36 hits. A perennial favorite.
& Go Window Display at Cambridge Trust Co., Harvard Square with 24 hits.
In September 1996 this site got 728 visitors from 27 countries.
In August 1996, This site got its first visits from Dominica (DM) & Baharain (BH)
In July 1996, Two new countries heard from: Ecuador (EC), & Hungary (HU). Welcome to my site!
go_proverbs.jpg was the image-of-the-month, with 19 hits.
Go was the most popular page, with 161 hits. I attribute this activity to the U.S.Go Congress.
In June 1996 this site averaged 27.5 visitors per day. The best thing about June was the 5 new countries that visited: In alphabetical order, they were Bermuda, Costa Rica, Greece, Indonesia, & The Russian Federation. Plus two contries came who had not visited since '95: New Zealand & Argentina.

There were 566 visitors from the U.S. in June '96
The countries that visited that month in double-digit crowds were

Canada (41)
Sweden (15)
Israel (14)
Germany (11)
UK (10)

30 countries in all paid visits in June 1996.
There were 104 visitors without a country (i.e. 104 distinct numeric IP addresses hit these pages that could not be resolved to domain names).
Overall there were 1049 page-visits. Go was the biggest attraction by far.

Edvard Munch's "The Scream" is the top-grossing picture. (19 clicks)
At the top of the audio charts: inca_wren.au. (20 clicks in June)

In May my log file was more than twice as big as in April! 1125 visitors from 28 countries made 1470 page-visits to this site.

Special mention to Malaysia (digraph MY), a country which had not previously visited this site. The visitor from Malaysia hit Herman's birding stuff.

Methodology: The odometers on these pages give recent ballpark figures. They include my own maintenance hits. They get reset when my internet provider's computer goes down. I do not use them at all for these statistics. I define a "page-visit" as a visit to a page on a given date by a given IP address. No matter how many times that day the page is re-loaded to that IP address, it's still one page-visit. A visit, as opposed to a page-visit, is any number of touches of my site by a single IP address in a single day. I wrote a perl script to count this way. Also, I do not count at all any hits or visits from my own site. I am not interested in in-line image hits either, so I filter them out. I only want to know when a visitor clicked on something, what his/her IP address is, and what country the visitor is from, and all the stats relating those things, slicing them this way & that...
