Judy Rehwinkel and Mary Hopper, Passages from Personal Interview, June 22, 1992

Passage 1
Hopper: Do you see any benefit of the new materials we used the last few semesters versus the materials we started with, at the beginning.

Rehwinkel: There is no comparison. When you have something you keep refining it, until it's good. Sometimes you're too close to the system and that is when you ask the students for input. I think it helped to ask other people to review the system because sometimes we would miss something.
Passage 2
Hopper: I came in the first semester the ENGR. 195C was taught, and we were running it in Engineering Administration Lab. What is your impression of that time period?

Rehwinkel: Very frustrating. The lab downstairs was not conducive to teaching, because it was an open lab.
Passage 3
Hopper: Do you see there are time and seasons in the academic environment when things get done more than others then? It's not the same progress all year round?

Rehwinkel: Summer was the best time to work on the databases. I was back here by myself in this office. It was quiet and nobody bothered me. In fact, I didn't even have the lights on.

Hopper: Is work environment important then, to the progress of work?

Rehwinkel: To me it is. Summertime is when I can do a lot more work, because there is lower pressure and there are no class deadlines.
