Microfilm Rapid Selector [Transcription of Video]
Kahn: This idea of having microfilm rapid selectors continued to be developed in the 50s and 60s. There is a film from a microfilm rapid selector that was done at the ERA in Washington, and another one that was done under CIA sponsorship at Yale University in the 1960s. The dot patterns got more complex. The problem with these machines was that they didn't work. They were really a very nice idea, but the technology couldn't move the film fast enough or record the position of things accurately enough to be practical. But they kept building them for about 20 years.
