hello dear friends,

I am following the discussion for some time already and decided to share
my experience which is not so big as most of yours and thoughts.

Speaking about HRM in LO I did not find a word about the voluntary
organisations. I could say there's a bigdifference between for profit and
not for profit organisations and HRM in there.

Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have a specific characteristics when
organising their work - people are usually not paid. Shoud they be called
the employees then? I know that money is not concerned to be a
motivational factor although lack of it definetely s unmotivational
factor.

What should a manager (I'd rather call him/her a leader) suggest his
people to keep activities going? And is there any study made what are the
main factors to keep NGOs sector living? I would be very interested to
know.

During my work in the voluntary organisation we with my collegues from
different countries used to discuss that if you are a strong enough leader
to motivate people to work on the voluntary basisyou will always be able
to manage/lead/ work with employees when the relations are based on the
laws and regulations.

The main motivation factor is personal development. Voluntary
organisations where the conditions for personal development are created
the rotation and change of people in less than in other conditions. Why?
A human being is an egoistic being. So what's the benefit from working if
there is no money. It is the understanding that it is your investment into
future and future earnings and welfare.

Organisations where there is no environment for learning suffer fron low
results and people rotation as pure interest is not a motivational factor
for a long period.

There is no better innovatina dn change killer that consciouns or
unconsciouns limitation of your creativity, thinking, imagination.
Probably someone you during the career as maangers, consultants,
proffessors, etc. has found the eay to slove this terrible "I cannot do"
syndrom. There is nothing on Earth you cannot do. The only question is if
it worths. Sometimes it worths to create your own wheel to be sure later
on - you can do yourself anything. Does this help opening your self rely
and creativity?

Sorry for a number of open questions but this is what HR keeps moving.

best regards,

Kristina Kovaite
