Responding to Peter's assertion that

I hesitate to call it a life form because I see no replicator at its core
no Internet Meme or Gene. It is [agreed peter] a space in which many
others are evolving through a host of new interactions. Who knows where
this will lead? It may not be the triumph of the global as you imply. New
interactions have, in the past, created space for all sorts of life forms
to expand into new niches. Potatoes were pretty localised for most of
their 'life' after all. I prefetr to think of the possibilities offered
for the emrergence of new insights across cultural boundaries - this list
being a good example.
