A number of people have asked the purpose of the self-evident truths, or
they have asked for further definition. I suggest that we have to
reconnect with the purpose of the self-evident truths to understand why
that is not necessary. Everywhere in the world, there is judgement going
on. People are praised, people are condemned, people are 'mad',
criticised, belittled, esteemed, revered.
Likewise social and economic systems are praised, condemned, criticised,
belittled, esteemed, revered. Just in the last day there have been
postings to this forum describing behaviors in ways that implicitly or
explicitly judged them to be stupid, short-sighted, avoidable,
destructive, and so forth.
We all make judgements all the time, and when we do, we assume that our
conversational partners understand exactly what we mean.
Therefore, the truths that guide our judgements _must_ be self-evident.
Asking for definitions or for the goals of these truths is denying their
self-evident nature.
