Drang Nach Osten: Chinese Communist Player's Notes

Chinese Communist Player's Notes

Chinese Communist pre-war production

Chinese Communist set-up

War situation

General disclaimer: this scenario hasn't been played! So these notes are not so much advice as they are an elucidation of some of the decisions you'll have to make, and perhaps an implication or two that is not immediately evident regarding that decision.

  1. You have two implacable foes, little production, no air force, and no hope of outside help for years, if ever. The strategic situation is simple: defend! Set up to defend against both the Nationalist Chinese and Japanese, clustered around your two factory cities. There is little incentive to launch any attacks for a good long while -- even if you succeed against one side, the third could take advantage of your flipped pieces. Instead, use any PARTs you get to be pesky. Plop them down on a Chinese city (either Japanese- or Nationalist-controlled) and then send a division off to try to take control of it. Risking your divisions on various "long marches" is safe and simple.
