Major changes are listed with the most recent first:

• An additional 2002 update

  September 29, 2002 -- Another rather sizable update made this year. About 70 new webpages of various types have been added. The details of the additions are listed on their own page to keep this page readable.

  The major change though is that new categories of links have been created that identify the content better. This may speed up your study of the poem by allowing you to discriminate among commentary pages and select only pages of interest to you.

  • There used to be two types of commentary for the lines in the poem, a general commentary and commmentary for the site author's own views. Now you can identify which links bring you to commentary about the poetry and Eliot's biography before you select the link.
  • Where there used to be two types of pages describing the history of the poem, pages showing what was in the drafts and where Eliot reused material, there are now also pages that compare the lines in the poem to other Eliot poems and pages that describe the changes made to the poem since its first publication.
  • New webpages have been created for these new page types and older pages have been recategorized.

• 2002 annual update

  March 31, 2002 -- The annual big update. I still consider this the second edition though.

  The details of the changes and additions are listed on their own page to keep this page readable but the short story is:

  • A site map has been added
  • Many new pages added to the framed portion of the website
  • Pages for off-site topics have many more links

• Minor changes to second edition

  January 20, 2002 -- Installed a redesigned homepage (explore.html). Also make some changes to the "What's new," "Known bugs" and "Referring to the Exploring The Waste Land website" page. That last page contains the first attempt at using cascading style sheets at this site.

• Second edition (the 2001 annual update)

  February 5, 2001 -- Changes massive enough for me to claim this as the site's second edition.

  The changes that used to be listed on this page are now listed on their own page.

• Changes to first edition

  March 1999 - June 2000 -- While my personal copy of the site underwent development only a few changes were made on the public site. These were mainly corrections but a couple of simple top level pages were created.

• First edition

  February 21, 1999 -- Site announced to the public through an e-mail to the TSE mailing list.

• Site development

  Late 1997 - February 1999 -- Site was under development. It was visited only by a few invitees.
