RA Cores Flat Foamie Series

Over the last couple of years we have been involved in local indoor flying and have built several indoor planes from plans on the internet. We also carry EPP foam to supply to the local fliers for them to build them as well. We offer full laser cut kits for various designs. Starting with our interpretation of the Leadfeather Yak55 from rcgroups and including our 34" EPP Spitfire kit, our EPP ME-109 kit , our EPP P-51D kit and our kit of Leadfeather's 3D Delta. Our newest offering is a Mini version of the Leadfeather Yak55 in the 22" size, perfect for those smaller gymnasiums and yet perfectly at home outdoors.

32" 9mm 1.3# EPP Version

This is the typical version of the plane flown. It has the light weight and great handling characteristics and yet the EPP foam gives it some resilience to the bumps and less than perfect landings seen when learning new maneuvers. It is fully capable of 3D maneuvers and can be flown indoors or outdoors and yet can be toned down to be grown with and into. This is not a self-righting trainer airplane but it is a great option for learning more advanced tricks and a fun companion indoors over the winter that will move outdoors with you in spring.

Lightweight 32" 6mm 1.3# EPP Version

Flat Foamie Series 32" 6mm EPP lightweight Yak55

This version uses 6mm EPP foam is lighter than our 9mm EPP version and has floaty flight characteristics. The airframe builds about 25 grams lighter which in turn allows you to use a lighter motor (we used a 17g pancake style motor in our videos) and 350mah 2S batteries for an overall reduction of about 40-50 grams in flying weight. Lighter flies better. it is a whole different plane even though the parts are all the exact same layout. The carbon stiffens the wing and the plane has good characteristics. The EPP is forgiving but the thinner foam isn't as tolerant to bumps as it's 9mm sibling. This is a fun option for intermediate 3D practice indoors.

Mini 22" 6mm 1.3# EPP Version

This version shrinks the popular Yak55 to a 67% size that allows it to be used in a smaller indoor venue while retaining all the great Leadfeather Yak55 qualities. With the power system we sell the weight comes in under 90g and using 180mah 2S batteries you get a great flying plane for small gymnasiums for the winter that is fully capable of flying outdoors in the better weather. We have also shrunken our standard paint scheme and they are available in the same rainbow of colors popular with our standard 32" Yak55s.

Flat Foamie Warbird Series

34" EPP Spitfire

The Spitfire has always been one of my favorite planes and it never seems to get as much exposure as it deserves with the popularity of P-51 Mustangs as a model subject. We have put the ease of keylocked foam construction and the simplicity of flat foamies into a well performing version of this WWII classic. With our standard completer kit below you can get unlimited vertical performance and the great profile of the elliptical wing of the Spitfire. We have remained true to the outlines of the plane while moving the hingelines to give great control in the air. As with our other models, our Spitfire instructions

are supplied in paper form with the kit but are also available on the website with expanding color pictures of all the steps for clarity.

EPP ME-109

The Battle of Britain foe of the Spitfire was the ME-109. We have produced a model of similar size and characteristics to our Spitfire. We have put the ease of keylocked foam cunstruction and the simplicity of flat foamies into a well performing version of this WWII classic. With our standard completer kit below you can get unlimited vertical performance and the great profile of the ME-109. We have remained true to the outlines of the plane while moving the hingelines to give great control in the air. EPP P-51D

The Mustang P-51D is a favorite of modelers and we are producing our version of the model Leadfeather designed in 2009. He designed it to have some 3D capabilities giving the modeler a plane that not only looks great but can be flown as more than just your typical circle flyer. We have put the ease of keylocked foam cunstruction and the simplicity of flat foamies into a well performing version of this WWII classic. With our standard completer kit below you can get unlimited vertical performance and the great profile of the P-51D. As with our other models, our P-51D instructions are supplied in paper form with the kit but are also available on the website with expanding color pictures of all the steps for clarity.

GemFan Direct Drive 6X3 inch Black Props used with 2S on our 6mm EPP Mini Yak55s. $1.00 each

Colors may vary. We try to purchase Black when possible. We find these fit the built in prop saver on our completer better than the GWS props which need reaming. The GemFan props do not.

Construction Materials

Foam-Finish coats and protects all types of foam. Can be sanded to create a smooth surface for paint or decals. One part system fills in imperfections. Makes foam stronger without adding significant weight. Easy to apply, cleans up with water while still wet. Dries to a hard and water-resistant finish.
