Rol,

Here's some of the things I use to sort email and make it useful.

First, I announce my way of operating so that those sending can (but
don't have to) act accordingly. These include things like, "Messages
which don't capture me in the first screen don't get read" "Do not
send messages over x pages. If more are required, then advise me
and send only if I request"

Second, I use various tools in both personal and general email to
screen by key word or phrase so I find what I'm interested in. I
also think it would be a good idea to announce the screen words I
use.

Third, I have auto delete for senders who play with my rules to
attempt to bypass their intent. And let them know I've done that.
