Your top-down command and control hierarchy has tried to do damage to
your most valuable asset, your attitude (and that of all others as
well). You need a very positive attitude in order to excel at any
task and you must do everything you can to sustain it.

You actually only have two choices, to stay and excel or to leave.
There is a third choice, but it is a bad one - stay and allow your
performance to degrade for reasons beyond your control, i.e. because
of what your bosses do or don't do. You can never control their
mistakes, but you can control your response to their actions.
Remember that you were not hired to judge them, only to do their
work. It is voluntary on your part. Don't volunteer to feel bad about
what they do or in any way degrade your performance to the great
detriment of your peers, your juniors and your own family and
friends (particularly your family). You owe these people your best
performance and there aren't any valid excuses.

The one very positive result of this experience is that you now have
a chance to learn exactly what happens when such top down decisions
are made and then you can postulate how you would prevent them from
happening to any of your juniors in the future. Make it a positive
learning experience. Take advantage of adversity and turn it into a
positve for you.

Hope this helps, Joan
