I work for XYZ Retail Company, which has seen a 36% profit increases in
the last year, and a 7-8% increase in comp store sales. When I hired on I
was given a specific title, and had come to like the title and job over
the last 14 months. Somewhere in the last two months the corporate ground
has shifted, and my title is different and no one at this company bothered
to tell me. Apparently this is a corprate wide restructuring, as
everybodies title was unilaterally changed. We are now being referred to
as sales oriented, whereas before we were task team oriented. I now need
to be "promoted" to achieve my previous title, which job description I
have been doing all along. Such a vast change in the workplace without
employees being informed makes me wonder if working for XYZ Retail Company
has a future, or if I should be looking elsewhere. Along with this
unilateral flattening of the work force, more than a few unlikely
candidates were "promoted". Being in the situation, it is hard for me to
form a detatched view. I like working for XYZ Retail Company, it is
incrementally better than my two previous situations, and I continue to
get positive reviews with pay increases, but I have concern about the
recent corporate shift that was esentially a secret to all but the highest
levels of management within Store #123 at XYZ Retail Company. What is the
lists take on this?
