RichmondSeriously scenic as well. I think it was in Richmond that we came across Jill's Ice Cream. In fact I have no idea where we were but the ice cream was fabulous (OK, so it wasn't Benson's' or Gray's but it was several cuts above chain ice cream parlor stuff). We savored our treats at a picnic table under a tree inhabited by a very vocal bird we could hear but not see. We looked out over a corn field, noting with alarm that the corn was not yet knee high. I don't know where that folk saying about the corn being knee high by the 4th of July came from but it leapt readily to mind at the scene of these extremely short corn plants. We had a late spring. Actually we had no spring. We went directly from winter to summer way way way later than usual. Judging by the corn along the back roads of Rhode Island we have a long wait for fresh corn on the cob.
