While I was talking with Tom and right wing Anne about their respective haircuts on Tuesday, a Coast Guard cutter sailed down Main Street. Actually it was on a boat trailer, being towed by a truck, but the darn thing was as wide as Main Street and not something you see every day. The town does have a boat for rescues in the lakes, ponds, and the Shawsheen River but even during the big flood I never saw it on Main Street. Tom and I both looked up and said "that's a big boat". Anne didn't notice it.

One day last week I was crossing the street next to the post office when a tall man carrying a blue umbrella stopped me in the middle of the cross walk and asked for the time. I told him the time and continued on my way. He stood in the middle of the street for awhile, then finally crossed to the other side. He immediately re-crossed the street. An hour later when I came back from my errands, he was still crossing and re-crossing the same street holding his umbrella on high as if he were part of a solemn parade. The rain had slowed down to a drizzle by then and the umbrella was no longer necessary .

The bagel toucher was at Bruegger's again today. Tom says he works in an amusement arcade at Hampton Beach in the summer, but doesn't appear to have a job in the winter. I didn't buy a bagel this time. I just used Bruegger's bathroom (messy) and returned to Starbucks to sit peacefully with my coffee. However, Anne and JoJo were there.

I got sucked into going to the library with them. JoJo tried to feed me puzzle pieces for dinner.
