Mackey was hiding from the rain under a car in the parking lot when I pulled in. There were no spaces so I decided to block in Roberta's car. As soon as I opened my car door, Mackey sprinted toward the shelter door. He rubbed against my legs, meowing like crazy to be let in. I tried to keep him out - he's not allowed in the shelter anymore for his own protection - too many diseases. He slid in right between my legs. I managed to keep him in the stairwell and not let him into the shelter itself and I warned everybody to watch out when they opened the door. This is the first time I've seen Mackey since he supposedly hitched a ride in the first aid supplies guy's truck in November. Why any cat would want to break in to the shelter ... well we do have catnip and lots of food and some cats actually like to be around other cats...

The closet was full this morning. I could see the laundry room floor. This is good. I put in a load of laundry before I started the dishes and I felt like I was on top of the laundry for once.

We had two new volunteers. Roberta was training them. One consequence of this is they changed every single litter box in the place, not just the ones that really needed to be washed. So I ended up washing every single box and of course I couldn't keep up and they ran out of clean litterboxes before I had clean ones ready to give them. The story of my life. If it ain't the laundry it's the litterboxes.
