Listened to a pile of the CDs we bought yesterday. Drove into Cambridge for brunch at the S&S Deli. Went CD shopping again at Tower Records on Newbury Street. Dropped Nancy off at South Station. Sigh. |
At the S&S, we were seated next to a man eating alone. We chattered on about Mongolian music and epic poetry. Nancy proposed that I write about countries where the people still gather round the fire and recite epic poetry on the long winter nights. I said, well that would only be Mongolia and Iceland, and I don't know if they still do it in Iceland. The man at the next table answered: "They still do that." Turns out he's an Icelandic bibliographer... we chatted happily about Iceland for the rest of brunch. It was great fun to run into someone who could talk about all things Icelandic and who loves Iceland as much as we do. We traded e-mail addresses. Small world. |
