The hall is handicapped accessible and completely non-sectarian. St. Mary's is Julianne's current church, and also where Rob's parents Helen Bacon and Stuart O. Landry were married. It's so Eclectic (1813 vintage) that it's on the National Register. Several party guests will be church members and if you are interested in architecture they would be happy to show you around. On the far side of the church, a very fine churchyard managed by my friend Beverly Hurney has beautiful examples of memorial art from the early 1800's to the present. The most famous person buried in it is probably Horatio Parker, a nineteenth-century composer (and Yalie). Just opposite the hall, my friends Peter Chase and Abbie, Gaelan, and Ben Gowdy-Chase live in the rectory. They are all incredibly creative, which will bring the party good luck, and I'm grateful to them for putting up with caterers, etc., driving through their yard. Peter's creative contribution to the party will be the hall decorations! |
