Week One Phase Two

Assembly Begins

The first piece of the plane that you assemble is the Chromemoly Cage

This is the 4130 steel section of a FlightStar.

One of the things I like to point out to prospective builders is that no painting is required when you build a FlightStar. That may not seem like a big deal, at first. But, it really is.

Both the Main Cage and the Landing Gear come pre-welded with a beautiful high-gloss, ebony, powder coating.

In this photo, we've attached:

  • The standard seatbelts
  • The six upright tubes for the main boom
  • The front seat support tube

This photo shows the attachment of the main gear and bungee cord springs.

You'll definitely want an assistant available when you attach the bungee cord.

Here's the basic cage sitting on its three wheels.

If you look closely, you can see the brake cables loosely routed from the cage center down to the Azusa brake drums.
