Technical Resources Your PC or Mac: Recieving Video & Audio: You don't need any special equipment other than your Internet connection and iVisit to view the event and participate in on-line discussion. However, the more RAM you have the more windows you can have open at any single time. Sending Video & Audio: In order to send video you need to have a camera attached to your computer. Connectix makes a small "eyeball" camera that you can purchase for your Mac or PC for under $150. If your computer has a mic input you can send audio. Using iVisit:
Optimize iVisit: Viewers: Each window has a flyout menu (click the black triangle in the upper right corner) where you can adjust the window size and image quality. The "lowest" image quality setting speeds up frame rate. Participants: The transmission of audio seriously reduces the rate of video transmission, as does the use of color as opposed to black and white video. If you have a color camera you can choose to transmit black and white video by using the Settings menu in iVisit. * A new version of iVisit will be available on July 1, 1998 for free download. Any version downloaded prior to July 1 will become unusable. |
