Joel is MetroGTI on
RCGroups Joel was inspired to come up with his design after he took some liberties with the original Blue Foam Wonder which itself has been around for sometime. He both stylized it even more and developed a better flying aircraft to boot. The name reflects the fact that the originals were built out of blue fanfold foam. Several additional variations have evolved including an EDF version and the float plane kitted below. The current white Depron kits lend themselves to nightflying versions as shown in the RCG thread. We have now also added an EPP version which is very durable for full contact combat events. |

I was brought to the H-Blu-O as a potential kit when a friend with a waterfront cottage wanted me to come over for some float flying. I began looking around and really liked the looks of Joel's plane and the fact that it used the power system I was already using in the Mini Gremlins.

Joel has tinkered with the BluFO platform yet again by doing up a version with twin motors. In doing so he has addressed several challenges and gone with a more traditional tractor design. Because he kept the main footprint the same and just extended the dorsal fins forward for motor pods, a higher KV motor was required to turn smaller diameter props for clearance. Another added benefit to the two motors is the ability to use differential thrust to give good yaw control.

Expanding on Joel's TwoFO build I felt that it would make a really interesting float plane and so I designed a set of floats for it. I like the original TwoFO concept and so I decided to make the floats removable so you could fly it in either configuration. Another benefit to the two motors is the ability to use differential thrust to give good yaw control.
