Here's a thought:

People contribute within the possibility space that is designed for them
to operate in. So if we reward individuals differentially they will tend
to output differentially.

Now, what if we reward the TEAM, by giving everyone the SAME rewards -team
pay divided by number of members- [and not just pay, but acclaim, access
to other work, whatever, whatever]. With a bit of support might not TEAM
behaviour emerge? Might not team members start to both critique and
support each other so that all are pulling together?

Our models of others ["Why should I sacrifice, for the sake of..."] limit
the possibilities we can conceive...

I'm not intending this as a worked out real world proposal, more an
instance of what de Bono might call a 'provocation for different thinking'
or whatever.
