Replying to LO12619 --

One more interesting element of intranet for learning would be to creat
"virtual" learning groups. Hence we would not only use intranet to
improve communication but as a learning tool. For instance, it might be
that a manager does not have the time (or money) to go on a 3-day course.
Or that he might be embarrassed to go on an course on "change" when he has
been piloting change for the last few years. S/he might be concerned
about his image.

A virtual leaning organization would allow one to take the course during
his /her time, it could be anonymous and much cheaper. In addition, this
manager could have the direct (maybe more honest feedback) from other
members. One could even make such a virtual group learning a much more
widespread idea by opening this "virtual group" to other participants in
other organizations using internet?!
