First Ben, I sincerely appreciate your willingness to reflect on the
feelings that the responses to your original post engendered in you.
IMHO, you are truly committed to learning when you are able to step back
and sort out your own feelings to determine the source of those feelings
before simply responding. The notion of personal mastery comes to mind...

With regards to the three specific points above, I'd like to share my
thoughts. I do not think your quote was shallow, I have no idea whether it
was accurate or not and I certainly do not think your participation
detracts from this list.

In the past, I have interacted with a lot of different groups that aren't
necessarily as "enlightened" about learning, thinking, women's issues, you
name it, as the individuals on this list. I am tempted, when I get in
these group situations, to jump on my intellectual high-horse. It seems
that our core value systems are so completely different. My first
temptation is to laugh at and/or avoid these individuals. I constantly
remind myself to look for the good in each individual because maybe I can
actually learn something from them, despite that fact that their values
are at least 360 degrees from mine.

My point is this, Tom Peters may be seen as not intellectual enough,
serious enough or just simply out to make a fast buck. In fact, all of
that may be true. But I don't want to disregard him completely because
some of what he has to say may be valuable. IMHO this is true for every
member on this list. While I have disagreed privately and occassionaly
publically with some of the posts on this list I have also had incredible
insights from these individuals with whom I disagree (and quite frankly
would prefer to ignore). I think the richness of this list depends on all
of our comments, and I hope that you will not censure yourself based on
the perception of a few individuals that your comments regarding Tom
Peters were not appropriate. Please continue to let who you are and your
opinions shine on this list.

Debbie
