Thank you, Joe, for a very nice summary of the findings in Nass and
Reeves' book, The Media Equation. Let me share just one small example of
how I have become aware of my "relationships" with technology. I recently
switched my ISP from AOL to Netcom (with a Netscape browser). My AOL used
to tell me in a very pleasant voice, "Welcome, you've got mail." My
Netscape software doesn't talk to me. Though I can surf the net much
faster with Netscape, I miss that AOL voice. (Take note, Netscape!)
