I agree that religion is not the answer. The point is that when
religion teaching left the schools, there was no consistent, standard
teaching of values or morals replacing that religious teaching.

Everything we do, say or watch teaching some morals or values. Are we
consciously aware of what the morals and values we are teaching? Is
that clear? Is there any collective values we can point to that are
being taught today?

Without consistent and clear values and morals, we cannot teach our
children either, nor can we expect our schools or society to improve
until we re-discover whatever values those will be...
