Replying to John Constantine LO10967:

I like the power of personal experience. I like that people can be
anonymous or not on this topic. It does drive me to look at my own
reactions and my own feelings -- open my own Pandora's box. If one
doesn't want to be exposed to the rawness of other's experiences and
emotions -- well certainly the title of the thread should be seen as a
warning flag. Certainly we are all adults and can make a choice. All of
the people who resonded to me personally did so with great sensitivity and
care. What is more touching than virtual strangers reaching out?

Yes it IS high risk! But so what -- it seems we always have to risk
something to learn. If we risk feeling our own feelings because of
someone else's story -- maybe the payoff is that we actually let go of
baggage we have retained simply because -- up until we read the story --we
have refused to really experience those feelings.

You are saying because I am not a Doctor of Pschology I shouldn't express
what I think and feel about survival in this world for fear of doing
damage to another person. Frankly, if all I spoke about was related to my
degrees I would be one boring person. And while I have the greatest
respect for research and education -- it is trapped by a lot of mental
models that I don't agree with. Every person on this list is
overqualified to talk about this subject!

It seems we are trapped by the God of persuasion and threatened by raw
emotion. Why? Becuase as long as we keep things rational -- we feel
safe. I am glad people felt they could write to this list about their
experiences. I am glad people chose to put their names on or keep them
off. I am glad Rick has supported this thread. To me it means we are
creating something of value. A forum where people can say what is REAL!!!
Thank you Rick and all the people who have contributed including John!
Because I do not exclude John's concerns as being legitimate. I just
disagree with censure in order to be safe.
