Replying to LO10875 --

In one of the Pegasus videos Dr. Senge talks about looking for the "Core
Processes" of the organization to start building in "learning". The video
is "Building Learning Infrastructures" BTW. Great video on mental models.

He recommends looking for opportunities to hook into those processes which
the org. can't do without - such as:

- Measurement of performance - control mechanisms
- Planning - Royal Dutch Shell's planning as learning example

Of course with the current mental models, I agree with Senge when he
states "the bean counters win". I am trying to focus my energies on
giving my organization new ideas on how to change these areas (budgeting,
performance appraisal are the 2 I am currently looking at) for the better,
and allow the mental models to surface.

Love to hear thoughts on how to make this happen. I see Fred Kofman's
article on Double Loop Accounting - anyone care to help make sense of it
for me (accounting major drop-out here!)
