Bill, your comment made me think about a story, that theologist Rubem
Alves told me, about this problem of language and creativity. During the
military government in Brasil, he had to leave the country and spent a few
years in the US. There, he started to read the Bible in english, and to
his surprise began to find different meanings in the texts, which he had
not noticed when he read them in portuguese. A different language, which
was not so familiar to him, showed him the way out of old habits!
