I would like to add some comments about this line.

There are two types of response to insecurity: the first one is to escape
(or hide) and the second is to face it.

In my personal experience, I have seen more often people trying to escape
from unsafe situations than facing them.

The second type of response is to face the problem. In this case, when
people feel unsafe about their environment, there is a tendency to be more
egoistic, assigning higher priority to personal than to group goals.

Creativity may be positive or negative. Criminals are often very creative!

I remember Abraham Maslow, who said there are two types of motivation.
Negative motivation (phisiological, safety, social and ego) produces self
protection behaviors, while positive motivation drives to self
actualization.

A feeling of insecurity may be necessary to break old habits, to show that
old standards do not apply to a new situation.

I feel that a nice attitude for management is to be transparent about
insecurity. I mean that management should not contribute to create
insecurity in order to speed up changes, but management should not hide
insecurity that menaces the organization os its colaborators. Sometimes
this is difficult to do!
