Hi Lynn: Thanks for sharing your expertise at the conference. I think we
are really moving forward in Ohio. I will be happy to update you on the
Communities of Practice.

Ohio is a local control state. The Regional Communities of Practice
(RCOP) have been in place for about a year. There will be 12 RCOPs this
year in Ohio to support the SN projects. Members of the RCOPs can be
anyone. Many members are from state service providers, data sites,
Instructional telvision, county offices, higher ed, zoos, parents,
business, etc. Each RCOP will have a SN faculty member to help faciliate
meetings and the regional work.

This summer the RCOPs have coordinated summer training programs funded by
the SN office. We anticipate about 7000 teachers participating this
summer. What is so terrific is that no teacher will receive a stipend for
attending. We have teachers on the waiting list.

The RCOPs have been a terrific team of people who have provided assistance
at the school building level. Each RCOP operates differently with no one
agency taking charge. It is a collaborative effort in each region.

Let me know if you need more info.

Jenny
