I'll give you a couple of quality books that I think are more useful than
those by Deming, Juran, or Crosby:
Brian L. Joiner, Fourth Generation Management (McGraw-Hill, 1994). It
does a terrific job explaining why managers need to pay attention to and
manage variation using quality improvement tools and methods.
William Lareau, American Samurai (Warner Books, 1991). Comprehensive
coverage of all the whats and hows of quality management, written in a
slightly irreverent but insightful fashion.
and, in all modesty, if you want a good reference book on lots of
information on lots of quality management topics:
James W. Cortada and John A. Woods, McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia or Quality
Terms & Concepts (McGraw-Hill, 1995).
