Joan:

I'm sorry but I cannot agree with your posting in response to Rol's in re
values, conflict and problem people. Time frames without detail don't do a
thing. I've posted some experiences some colleagues have had over the
years, in response to the threads on problem employees. It is simply too
easy to offer "three strikes and you're out" solutions to complex
situations that you may not know enough about. (I've seen many more of
these situations than simply the two examples I mentioned.)

They are evidence of a sick organization, truly. When these situations
occur, it usually is symptomatic of tensions within the organization that
foster the negative emotions such as resentment and anger, and may result
in illness and even death. If these are not even acknowledged, there is no
basis on which to pronounce judgements such as three, six, nine or twelve
months, or years for that matter. Diagnosis is tough if you can't see the
patient (or patients). Remember the allegory of the Cave.

Offered in the spirit of harmony.

Regards,
John Constantine
