This message is triggered by an emergent conversation about contributors/
Lurkers on the list. See several posts. What triggered my response was
Keith's LO7929. I may or may not be tongue in cheek.

=========start=======
As an update to the above, 25% of the change agents on LO are active,
much higher than average (as expected) but 75% are lurkers! This really
reinforces the point that MOST people adopt a "wait-and-see"
attitude before sticking their necks out! ...Keith
=========end quote=====

I do not know if it is just me but the meme 'lurkers' seems to convey a
slightly derogatory, or even 'holier than thou' atttitude. *I am a
contributor - you are just a lurker*. What arrogance perhaps [and no I
ain't saying this is black and white just being contrary]. What if 80% or
so of the 'lurkers' have the discipline and personal mastery to only
contribute when they have something to say, or feel awed at breaking into
a conversation among self-nominated experts, or whatever. WHAT IF most
people are rather more in control of their own learning than those of us
who just can't stop contributing?

Just an attempt to ask us that we reflect on our own being in respect of
the list.

change-agents are too busy to post, ever think of that?>. THANKS JUDITH.
Well said. And, even later, Thanks Julie for your comments [LO7978]. I
agree.

[Host's Note: Just to be clear, people who read and do not write are
*absolutely* welcome here on LO. Also, skimming and selective reading are
OK here; we should not expect that everyone reads every msg. ...Rick]
