Judith's and Keith's exchange harkens back to last year on this list when this
issue reared its head.
Some chomp at the bit to DO. Others want to hear about what it is they SHOULD
do. Still others speak about their activities in the hope of receiving
positive, critical feedback.
This last group, it seems to me, comprised a larger percentage of contributors
a year ago than we see today.
Finally, there are the the majority who air ideas without an explicit
organization framework. Fine. Many consultants strut their stuff. Good.
It's all in an effort to communicate. Sure, it sometimes seems that at best
we talk TO, rather than With. But isn't that par for the course at this time,
for this medium?
I recall some time ago how one contributor typed to me "off line" how she was
growing tired of reading this list because of a sense of dilution of ideas.
That, too.
And there have been some provocative posts about the life cycle of lists. For
instance, after we all make ourselves feel good by sounding decent and even
getting responses from other, invisible minds, we grow weary and lose the keen
interest with which we joined a smaller, seemingly more manageable sharing.
Yup, a pinch of that into the pot.
Pot-au-feu, anyone? I'm still hungry.
