I have always wished that Churchill could have added to the above the
following:

"but we should constantly be looking for ways to improve democratic
processes, since no one has ever spent much time working on how to do
that, and we do not have to let bad process designs kill us. Maybe we can
even invent technologies that will, judiciously applied, cause our
democratic processes to be effective as well as participative."
