Halfway through your post I was thinking why more of this 'making schools
wrong' when you talked about football announcement over the PA. However
when you concluded

Agreed. Why beat up on schools - which is an impression I got from some
discussion on the thread - when it is society's dominant values that drive
schools to be whatever they are.
