One of the problems (maybe) is that the truly well-known names are
not members of the group - at least typically.

Maybe there could be more of an effort to make the listserve known to
others that are interested in learning organizations and the use of
systems thinking for business development. Maybe "The System Thinker"
newsletter could give some examples of the online conversation. Of course,
1800 is already a considerable number of people for handling a listserve.
At that point, what about making "operational definitions" more commonly
understood. "These are the kind of posts that make me say, 'dare I post
it?'" This is how to write a subject line that can be distributed
(including number of letters). There may be other helpful things, also.
Maybe the next "Fieldbook", if there is to be one, could mention the list.
Maybe we need to meet certain criteria before we're trusted with all
newcomers to the field :)

Have a nice day
