re: cartoons and illustrations

Deborah Heller commented that "moving too quickly to graphic
representation or a one page bulletted list (requested by those who live
in the 5 second sound byte world) we could try to say it simply...."

As a corporate "cartoonist" I find myself "saying it simply". So often
it's not the PHDed consultant who lives out somewhere in the ether, it's
the local management and administrators. When you cut thru the (uh...
how shall I say this delicately?) "large animal droppings" with a cartoon
. it's pretty hard for anyone to deny the reality before their eyes. Not
so much a 5 second soundbyte as a blunt statement that says "hey
guys-here's the reality you try so hard to avoid".

I'm all for saying it simply. But so often I can get the words through
the thick walls so I have to resort to a crowbar.

The other side of this is that we have such a snowstorm of bulletted lists
and words flying around that a few good clean images are a welcome tool
for focussing the thought process. Tell them-then show them... And don't
make it too complex or it won't get thru.

later...
