I liked Barry's 5 categories of performance. I wondered what would be
lost if the numeric grade were eliminated and people received the text
back as an evaluation instead of the number. No grade, but instead a
clear description of what is noot working and by implication, an action
plan for change.
I also wonder how those descriptions get translated into higher level jobs
where judgement, strategy, conceptualization, prioritization, and so forth
become the important parameters. These are inherently ambiguous terms,
and it takes a lot of work to be precise in giving feedback.
