Some months ago I provided some thoughts about an instrument created by
Glenn M. Parker called the Parker Team Player Survey. I have been using
this tool for nine months with facilitation skills and high-performance
team training groups. Not a dry eye in the house.

The Parker Team Player Survey is a questionnaire filled out by a team
player. then, one or more co-workers fill out a sister survey called
Parker Team Player Survey: Styles of Another Person. The co-worker
answers questions about about the person based upon work together in the
same area, department, etc.

In my course, the participants "score" their own worksheet after "breaking
the seal", and compare their self-analysis to that of the co-wroker(s).
Parker identifies four general areas of team style: contributor,
collaborator, challenger and communicator. By GETTING A SENSE of what you
are, and understanding characteristics associatred with each style, a team
member can leverage behavio for the sake of team success.

This extremely brief overview is for a tool among many tools. One doesn't
have to be certified to use it. Participants universally sense some
insight. It forms an integral part of a 3-day course on high-performance
teams and facilitation skills.
