In you were to check this title in the US Books in Print, you would
instead find Arthur L. Stinchcombe, _Information and Organizations_ (Univ
of Calif Press, 1990). That won't be a mistake -- that's another valuable
book. It is packed with whatever is good from the academic literature,
and is a quick way to learn about important thinkers you never noticed or
never had time to read, such as Sabel, Chandler, Schumpeter, EP Thompson.
