Replying to LO3548 --

Many people have suggested many wonderful books, some I've
read and been affected by, others I still would like to track
down. On the broad subject of learning and knowledge, let me
suggest to you all

The Phantom Tollbooth -- Norton Juster, illus. Jules Fieffer

You will have to go to the children's department to find it,
but do not let that deter you. It is an allegory in which
we find the Land of Knowledge in a strange state of chaos and
conflict. All is awry since the Princesses of Rhyme and Reason
were banished to the Castle in the Air... it falls to an ordinary
boy named Milo and his companions to journey to rescue them.

I have reread this book many times, to children or for myself, and
found new things to enjoy and learn from each time.
