Hi,

David Markham wrote this:
"When good people do bad things, they almost always are part of evil
organizations."
-----

A person I know is part of a fundamentalist religious organization.
I asked him what being part of this organization was doing for him.

He wrote that, "It keeps me from doing bad stuff."

What I learned is that, saying something like this presupposes that
he would be doing bad stuff. Not doing X implies X.

What I also learned is that, saying stuff like this to yourself INSURES
that these subtle presuppositions will leak out in behaviour.

I think that people join these types of organizations to develop
SPIRITUAL logical level types of beliefs. They do this to justify the
occasional "SINS" that they commit. "It's okay if I do this because
"I AM A X" so that means GOD will FORGIVE me."

The reason I think they do this is because they lack the COURAGE or
desire to THINK about different spiritual level beliefs of what their
contribution will be to other human beings. Most likely, they desire
to CONTROL external things, (wealth, land, people).
