John Seely-Brown at Xerox PARC is doing some very interesting work
related to the challenge you mentioned. It has more to do with
processes than individuals. He talks of a system of knowledge and
suggestions and a process of cycles that depends on community
(shared) knowledge rather than individuals.
He shared this at the Complexity and Strategy conference in San
Francisco and used a quandrant matrix of individual/social
explicit/implicit to show where knowledgecan most powerfully be
created and available.
