The issue regarding student involvement in the delineation of a university's
mission/capacity for change, et al.: To me, it is precisely of a piece with
the need to involve all constituents -- internal *and* external -- in the
kind of dialogue or conversation that produces an effective and valid
initiative for change. In too many instances, conversation happens within an
enclosed circle designed to produce as little perturbation as possible.
Beyond the development of "in house internships," what would a university
look like that materially included its "customers" in its operations?
