As a result of downsizing, the "training" function in a very large
corporation was reorganized nearly out of existence about two years
ago. I am part of a small team which is chartered to plan changes
aimed at restoring employee development (from executive to hourly)
capability and recreate training and education in the company to
reflect its new goals of becoming a market-driven, customer-focused
organization.

To help get things started well, I have agreed to propose working
definitions of "development", "training" and "education" and how
their meanings differ.

I'm asking my friends and colleagues on this list to help me with
your best take on how to define these terms and suggestions on how
to develop agreement (shared meaning) among my teammates.
