Wow! I agree that learning organizations draw the hearts of the people
into the organization, but I think products can do the same thing. Maybe
this is a high-tech thing, but all the companies I've worked with who had
successful products, the people were fully engaged by the potential of the
product, not just the organization.

I think *everybody* needs to be committed to the company and the products,
especially to have a learning organization. If you have allegiance to the
company but not the products, you have a shell- how can the company
continue to succeed? If you have allegiance to the products but not the
company, how can you continue to produce products people will buy?

Maybe I misunderstood this, but I'd like to understand more what your
client was talking about. I don't understand her separation here.
