I use the following to help me....and may have learned it from Senge...I
cannot remember from whence it surfaced....but it is consistent with
Kent's thoughts.

There are many forms and underlying "mental models" that become
manifest in what we call questions. Three types can be categorized as
follows:
--inquiry - we really want to know; "How much memory space does your
computer have?"
--advocacy - we're asking in order to make a point about something
else; "How much memory space does your computer have? This one
super-duper jobbie has XXXXXtrillion megawhatsas!"
--challenge - we're asking to make a point that what has been said is
"wrong"....not that we simply do not concur....but that it, by its very
nature, (if you please) is wrong..; "No wonder this is taking so long. So,
how much memory space does your computer have? "

Now I have to get to work....should I send this? I guess I will....Myrna
