Replying to LO470 --

What a nice surprise to see a request on the list for my report for SRI,
"Organizational Learning as Strategy."

This report was one of the results from a research project I did a year
ago for SRI's Business Intelligence Program, a multiclient-sponsored
research program targeting management and technology issues for
multinational corporations. I interviewed about 18 companies here in the
U.S. and the U.K. about how they were trying to implement some of the
concepts from Senge's "Fifth Discipline." Peter Senge, Chris Argyris, Don
Michael, and many others reviewed the early draft and contributed to my
thinking. Peter has been good enough to refer many people to my work.

The research produced two reports, one directed at the concerns of senior
executives considering organizational learning as a corporate strategy,
and the other directed at managers who are involved in implementing the
concepts. The report that Jean-Marie Bonthous referred to, R827,
"Organizational Learning as Strategy," is copyrighted material that is
proprietary to the subscribing clients of SRI's Business Intelligence
Program and is not available for purchase by the general public.

The second report however, "Organizational Learning in Practice," is
available to the public for $50. Anyone interested can send me a message
with your address or fax number and I will send you some further details
with order form. Thanks very much for the publicity, Jean-Marie! (no
bribes or special favors were involved...)

As for discussing the research on the list... where to start? Any
specific questions Jean-Marie?
